Volunteering in Ukraine?

Do you want to help Ukraine and Ukrainians more?

We work with our volunteers from our base, which is a house in western Ukraine, about 150 kilometers from the Polish border. In 2024 - 2025, more than 50 volunteers from 15 different countries worked at the base. There were volunteers from Finland, France, England, Ireland, America, New Zealand, Austria, Ukraine, Holland, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Estonia, Australia and Poland. We receive more than 300 applications annually. Several volunteers from 2024 returned in 2025.

The beauty of volunteering is getting to know people from all over the world. Everyone has their own story about why they want to help, and everyone is involved with their whole heart.

In 2026, we will open the base to volunteers in April - May

#TogetherWeAreStrong

Our volunteers will, among other things:

  • Sort, pack and send humanitarian aid to frontline towns for civilians, hospitals and soldiers
  • Teach English and run a language café for young people and children
  • Weave terrain nets and helmet covers
  • Prepare small batches of food to be sent to the frontline
  • Assist in a nearby animal shelter
  • Work comprehensively together with the village community and other international organizations as needed, according to the volunteers' skills and strengths.

When considering volunteering, please also remember the facts

There is a war in Ukraine, and even though the fighting is in the east, the whole country is at war. We cannot guarantee your safety, you are responsible for it yourself. We also do not insure volunteers. We recommend that you obtain insurance and ensure that it is valid in Ukraine.

Volunteers commit to working for at least three weeks, ideally a 4 - 5 weeks. The tasks will take into account each volunteer's own skills and they will not be forced to do things that they find dangerous.

You organize and pay for your own travel to and from Ukraine. Of course, we will help you plan your trip, and when you arrive in the country, we will pick you up from the nearest city as agreed. It is good for you to know at least a little English, the volunteer community is international and we communicate mainly in English. The international community is also a good opportunity to improve your language skills and learn something new.

We live and work in a remote location, about 10 kilometers from the nearest city. A driver's license is desirable, but not mandatory

And even though a well-planned event is half-done, things and situations can change quickly. We are here to help and will always adjust our plans and actions to the needs of Ukraine and Ukrainians. So, also think about how you can handle a little uncertainty and changing situations! We face both regularly.

Accommodation in Ukraine is shared accommodation: you share a room with perhaps up to three other people. There are separate rooms for men and women. We cannot promise couples a shared room. Everyone agrees to follow the common rules and everyone has their own private space – agreement is key.

However, living together can sometimes feel stressful, as there is little privacy. Consider whether you are ready to be flexible about your own ways of doing things and live in harmony with strangers for several weeks.

Volunteering is rewarding and fulfilling: you get to know Ukrainians, you might learn the language, you see the results of your work right away, and most importantly, you help Ukrainians in a tangible way. We have a common goal, so the spirit of camaraderie among volunteers is strong and the community supports each other.

2026 we will open our base in end of April - mid May.
